EMILY DIANGELO

Founder • Artistic Director • Oboe

Emily DiAngelo is an oboist and the founder of the Ithaca New Music Collective. She currently teaches oboe at Cornell University and the Luzerne Music Center. Emily is an avid soloist, chamber, and orchestral musician, having played with Symphoria, Cayuga Chamber Orchestra, Binghamton Philharmonic, Tri Cities Opera, Syracuse Stage, Rochester Chamber Orchestra, Syracuse Society for New Music, Cornell Festival Chamber Orchestra, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, West Point Army Band, The Chelsea Symphony, Little Opera Company of New York, Bronx Symphony Orchestra, and more.

As a passionate advocate for commissioning and performing newly composed music, Emily has collaborated with composers from all over the world and commissions new works for the instrument. Emily completed her Doctor of Musical Arts at the Manhattan School of Music in 2018, where she studied oboe with Robert Botti. Additional Oboe studies include Paige Morgan, Daniel Stolper, Louis Rosenblatt, and Lloyd Shorter. Emily resides in Ithaca, New York where she teaches oboe and piano privately, in addition to her college teaching, performing career, and commissioning of new works.

 

JESSICA SMITH

GENERAL MANAGEr | FLUTE

Jessica Smith received her M.M in Flute Performance from Ithaca College and B.M. from Eastern Michigan University.  Since graduation, Jessica continues to teach and perform in the Ithaca area.  As an ardent supporter and performer of new music, Jessica is thrilled to collaborate with local musicians and composers through the Ithaca New Music Collective.

 

CAROLINE FRESH

OPERATIONS MANAGER | VOICE

Caroline Fresh is a vocalist and composer based in Ithaca, NY. She received her degree in Vocal Performance from Ithaca College and has been working and performing with new music organizations such as NEC's Summer Institute for Performance Practice and Ithaca New Music Collective since 2015. Caroline has premiered and performed new works from composers in the Ithaca and Boston areas, written, recorded, and performed solo works, and acted as the operations manager for INMC since April of 2016.

ANGELA YANTORNO

PERFORMER | VIOLIN

Angela Yantorno grew up as a Suzuki violin child, attended Interlochen Arts Academy and the Ithaca College School of Music in violin performance. Angela returned to Ithaca in 2004 where she is raising her children and has turned her life back to violin performance and Suzuki teaching.  Angela co-writes with her husband David Yantorno for their indie-rock band, Not From Wisconsin, performs frequently as a freelance musician and maintains a full Suzuki studio from her home in the Ithaca area. 

SARAH WELDEN

PERFORMER | VOICE

Sarah Welden is a performer and voice instructor living in Ithaca, NY and working as an apprentice artist with Opera Ithaca. Sarah is a passionate and frequent performer of new music, regularly collaborating with composers through the Ithaca New Music Collective since March of 2015. She has premiered and performed new works including opera, musical theatre, cabaret, and art song, and sprechstimme. Sarah graduated magna cum laude with a BM in Vocal Performance and Music Education from Ithaca College.

UJJAL BHATTACHARYYA

PERFORMER | PERCUSSION

Originally from Iowa, Ujjal is a member of the Ithaca College Graduate Percussion Trio while he completes his MM in Percussion Performance. He joined INMC with this trio at our 2017 Ghostly Gathering event. Ujjal was selected as a semifinalist in the Great Plains International Marimba Competition and will be touring with the Heartland Marimba Ensemble in June 2018.

AIDEN BRAUN

PERFORMER | BASSOON

Residing in Nutley, New Jersey, Aiden recently graduated from the Ithaca College School of Music with a BM in Music Education. He performed with a bassoon quartet under Dr. Christin Schillinger at our 2017 Ghostly Gathering event. After a memorable senior student teaching experience, Aiden hopes to become a band teacher.

 

BENJAMIN CORDELL

PERFORMER | PERCUSSION

Originally from Dallas, Texas, Ben Cordell now resides in Ithaca, New York, where he studies with Gordon Stout as a graduate student at Ithaca College. As a member of the Ithaca Graduate Percussion Trio, he recently participated in the inaugural Un/pitched concert series, premiering six new works for percussion trio by local composers from Ithaca College and Cornell University. With this trio, he joined INMC for their Ghostly Gathering event in October 2017.

LINDSEY EASTHAM

PERFORMER | PERCUSSION

Lindsey Eastham is a contemporary percussionist from Los Angeles, based in Ithaca, NY. She has won the Southern California International Marimba Competition 2014, the Great Plains International Marimba Competition 2017, and joined the World Percussion Group for their European tour summer of 2017. Lindsey is passionate about new music and joined INMC  for our February 2017 event.

 

BRITTANY GILES

PERFORMER | BASSOON

Brittany Giles, originally from eastern Kentucky, recently graduated from Ithaca College with her MM in Bassoon Performance. She will pursue her Doctor of Musical Arts at Michigan State University with the hopes of becoming a bassoon professor in the near future. Brittany performed with INMC during our 2017 Ghostly Gathering with our Halloween bassoon quintet.

 

CHLOE LANDAU

PERFORMER | BASSOON

Originally from Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey, Chloe is pursuing a degree in Integrated Marketing Communications from Ithaca College. She has performed at the New York Renaissance Faire and held an internship with XO Group Inc. Chloe joined Dr. Christin Schillinger bassoon quintet for INMC’s 2017 Ghostly Gathering.

PERFORMER | BASSOON

Emily Roach is from Long Island, New York. Currently, she is a senior at Ithaca College pursuing a BM in Music Education, with a concentration in bassoon. She is an active participant in chamber music ensembles within the School of Music, including bassoon ensembles and a woodwind quintet. Emily also teaches bassoon throughout the Ithaca community. She joined Dr. Christin Schillinger bassoon quintet for INMC’s 2017 Ghostly Gathering.

 

JOSH OXFORD

Artistic Director • Composer 

Josh Oxford is a composer, arranger, and performer of myriad styles of music. He has performed throughout the country, especially in his native central New York, on piano, percussion, and synthesizer.  After suffering a debilitating car crash, Josh has devoted his energy to composing.  His music can be heard on Aaron Tindall’s award-winning recording This Is My House and on The OXtet’s debut CD. 

 

 

JACOB GUNNAR WALSH

 

COMPOSER | OBOE

Jacob Gunnar Walsh from Chepachet, Rhode Island graduated Ithaca College in 2015 with a B.M. in Music Composition and a B.M. in Oboe Performance, having studied oboe with Dr. Paige Morgan, and composition with Dr. Dana Wilson and Dr. Jorge Villavicencio Grossman.  Jake draws inspiration from all genres and styles of music, taking elements of pop, jazz, folk, and musical theatre and incorporating them into a more "classical" concert hall type setting.

JEANNETTE-MARIE LEWIS

SOCIAL MEDIA/PR MANAGER | FLUTE

While completing her MM in Flute Performance at Ithaca College, Jeannette serves as Flute III/Piccolo with the Catskill Symphony and Substitute Flute with the Cayuga Chamber Orchestra. In April, she won a position with the Air Force Academy Band and Wind Quintet. She is the Social Media/PR Manager and frequent soloist with the Ithaca New Music Collective, having joined INMC in September 2017.

 

AVNER FINBERG

COMPOSER | VIOLIN

Avner Finberg is an Israeli-American composer and violinist. He graduated from Manhattan School of Music in 2015 as a Doctor of Music in composition, and he specializes in writing and performing music for violin and live electronics. His music has been performed around the world. He also writes extensively for the voice. Scenes from his opera, A Taste of Damnation, were recently performed at Fort Worth Opera. Avner brought his music to INMC in September of 2017 with his piece “ascensions” for violin and live electronics. 

 

DAVID RESIG

COMPOSER | BASSOON

David Resig is a native of Central NY and earned his Bachelors of Music at Ithaca College. He is one of the founding members of BRIAN!, an experimental band incorporating amplified bassoon, guitar, bass, percussion, electronics, and vocals. BRIAN! developed as a collaboration in the spirit of Rock in Opposition fusing elements of classical, math rock, modern prog, and punk. David began performing and composing with INMC in February of 2018. 

 

 

MIKE NAVE

PERFORMER | TROMBONE

Mike Nave received his Master’s in Music Performance and Bachelor’s in Music Education from Ithaca College. During his Master’s work, Michael served as the graduate assistant of both the music education and music technology curriculum. Currently, Michael Nave is the band director at Newark Valley Middle School and bass trombonist of the Fall Creek Brass Band. Mike got involved with Ithaca New Music Collective in April 2016.

 

MOLLY ARONSON

PERFORMER | CELLO

Residing in NYC, Molly Aronson has performed new and classical music throughout the US and internationally at venues such as Carnegie Hall and Radio City Music Hall. Molly has held teaching positions at SUNY Purchase, the New York State Summer School of the Arts, and Interlochen Arts Camp. She first performed with INMC at our 2017 Ghostly Gathering.

 

CHRISTOPHER BUSH

PERFORMER | CLARINET

Dr. Christopher Bush, current Woodwind Faculty at NYU, is the current Principal Clarinetist with the Glens Falls Symphony Orchestra and the Metro Chamber Orchestra. He was a founding member of the contemporary ensemble, Callithumpian Consort, and he has worked with numerous living composers on performances of their own music. He joined INMC at our 2017 Ghostly Gathering.

SERGIO COTE

COMPOSER | ELECTRONICS

Having studied composition in Bogota, Colombia, Sergio Cote’s music has been performed and commissioned worldwide by ensembles such as International Ensemble Modern Academy, Neopercusión, Taller-Sonoro, Mise-en Ensemble, the London Philharmonic Orchestra, and the National Symphony Orchestra of Colombia. He has been awarded the Colombian National Prize for Young Composers (2011), the Royal Northern College of Music Gold Medal, and the Scholarship to the Creation of Contemporary Music awarded by the Colombian Ministry of Culture in 2014. Sergio has been performing and composing for INMC since February 2017.

OLIVIA FLETCHER

PERFORMER | BASSOON

From Stillwater, Oklahoma, Olivia graduated from Ithaca College with a BM in Music Education and Performance this spring. Most recently. With IC ensembles, she has performed in such venues as Lincoln Center and the John F. Kennedy Center. Olivia joined INMC for our 2017 Ghostly Gathering to perform with our Halloween bassoon quintet.

MADELINE JANSEN

PERFORMER | VIOLIN

Madeleine Jansen enjoys a multi-faceted career in New York City, performing concertos with the New York Virtuosi and the New York Eastern Chamber Orchestra in venues such as Carnegie Hall, the United Nations headquarters (NYC), and Capitol Hill (Washington DC). Madeleine is currently on faculty at Luzerne Music Center, and has taught violin at Interlochen Arts Camp and UMass Amherst. Madeleine has performed on NBC’s Today Show with Michael Buble, and in concert with Andrea Bocelli, Rod Stewart, Michael Buble, Josh Groban, and Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Madeleine joined a string quartet for INMC’s 2017 Ghostly Gathering event.

MICHELLE METTY

PERFORMER | VIOLA

Michelle graduated from SUNY Fredonia in 2016 with a BM in Viola Performance and is currently finishing her MM in Suzuki Pedagogy and Viola Performance from Ithaca College. She is incredibly grateful to be in an environment with such diverse performance opportunities and frequent chances to collaborate with local musicians and composers to bring new music to life. She joined INMC’s string quartet for their 2017 Ghostly Gathering.

ELIZABETH SHUHAN

PERFORMER | FLUTE

Elizabeth Shuhan is a visiting lecturer of flute at Cornell University, a lecturer in music education at Ithaca College and is the flute instructor at Opus Ithaca School of Music. She is principal flutist of the Fort Smith Symphony (AR) and performs regularly with Opera Ithaca, the Shuhan-Luk Trio, the Ithaca Flute Duo, and Cornell Wind Quintet. Ms. Shuhan has recorded for Naxos, Albany and PBS. She frequently performs as a soloist with INMC, beginning in 2016.
